2023 AFL Round 10 Preview – HAWTHORN v WEST COAST

Racing and Sports will provide analysis of many games in the 2023 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

HAWTHORN v WEST COAST

Sunday 21 May @ UTAS Stadium

Literally anything goes in the battle for the bottom spot on the ladder and they've gone to one of the most southern parts of the country to do it.

Throw in external health concerns and it is a game which has the potential to end as a Nil-All draw.

With the very strong incentive of the No 1 spot in the Draft as a real possibility for the loser, the result will be the only focus here.

Both have horrific percentages, defence has been a massive issue and teams get on long stretches of goal streaks. So many goalless quarters are the norm.

For a very small period after half time, Hawthorn had a dip but of course were no match for Melbourne. That was always predicted but once they were thrashed from the opening siren, it was more management than quality from their opposition thereafter.

In some ways this season is probably providing Sam Mitchell more ideas about learning who ISN'T AFL standard than who IS! That and goal kicking/potential into the future.

West Coast sort of know their issues but can't fix them. They don't have depth around the ball and the older brigade are waiting to usher in new blood.

Oscar Allen will have them a target into the next few years but he needs help too. Where the shock is more is that at home they aren't competitive either.

Depending on who takes the field could determine who wins the game. You'd be thinking Hawthorn given they are a shout in Launceston most times.

But with the virus striking anything is possible. Will it be Mission Impossible? For now the Hawks and a low scorer on a cold Tassie day.

Match Selection: Hawthorn by 9 points

Suggested Bets: Total Points Under 169.5 @ $1.90
