The week before the Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney is a busy time for trainers. 

Not only are they doing inspections on prospective purchases, but they also need make sure their team is in order for the big meetings ahead. 

For Bendigo horseman Brent Stanley he had the extra pressure of playing removalist, transporting his apprentice son Jett's gear to Sydney as he embarks on the next part of his career with Annabel Neasham. 

Jett moves into Neasham's stable on Friday, in time for Stanley to hit the road back to Bendigo to saddle Sorel Rising in the Listed Bendigo Guineas (1400m) on Saturday. 

Stanley was pleased to see Sorel Rising had drawn barrier two on Saturday. 

"It's good to be racing on our home track, especially drawing low which is a bonus," Stanley said. 

"With every start the horse is having, the penny is dropping. He's always had very good ability, but he's just been slow putting things together." 

Stanley explained Sorel Rising had required barrier work after being difficult to load on two occasions, which resulted in the trainer not being able to plan his campaign the way he would like. 

But with mended barrier manners has come improved form with Sorel Rising winning two of his last three starts and a close second sandwiched in-between. 

His most recent victory was at Morphettville on March 18 where Stanley said Sorel Rising had dominated the opposition. 

"It might have been an average race, but he ran good time and demoralised them," Stanley said. 

"He's definitely a Stakes quality horse. He's drawn low on his home track. He ticks a lot of boxes." 

Sorel Rising will be ridden by Danny Beasley who is making a rare appearance across the border having returned home from Singapore late last year and is now based in Wagga. 

Beasley and Stanley have been mates from their days riding in Sydney with the trainer keeping a watch on his old rival while keeping an eye on Jett's rides at the same meetings. 

"He was a great jockey in Sydney, and still is, you don't lose that ability," Stanley said. 

"He's in flying form and would have one of the best strike-rates in NSW at present."
