The Gai Waterhouse-trained three-year-old filly Major Conquest ($1.40 fav) resumed after placing in stakes company at Rosehill and Randwick last year with a very promising first-up win here. She was quickly away and settled outside the leader, the Paul Messara-trained filly Battle Queen who was making her debut. They broke clear of the field at the 200m with Major Conquest going on for an impressive win, scoring by a length at the post. Battle Queen held the lead until the 200m and fought on gamely, staging a most encouraging debut while the Darley filly Erato made ground late to take a sound third, without threatening. *ANZ
