Emblems began smartly and eased third on the rails to the turn. He moved up to take the lead at the 100m and then battled on well to score by half a length - his third win in five starts. He’s a promising colt. His stablemate Knoydart was eased from his outside barrier (8) and settled sixth one off the rails in the eight-horse field. He switched around runners at the 200m and ran on well for a good second. The favourite Darciwood settled fourth one off the rails to the 600m, moved up to challenge approaching the 100m and battled on particularly well for a good third. He had every chance today but he was stepping up sharply in grade from his debut win in a Geelong Maiden last month and he performed most creditably. *ANZ
