The Chris Waller-trained Bigboyroy, a son of Newgate Farm's Dissident, broke his maiden at Canterbury on Friday, scoring by almost five lengths. Ridden by James McDonald, Bigboyroy defeated the Hawkes-trained Corporal, running a time of 1:33.66 for the 1550 metres.

A $120,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase by Mulcaster Bloodstock from the draft of Newgate Farm, Bigboyroy was having his eighth start having placed in six of his previous runs and becomes the 19th winner for his sire.

Newgate Farm will offer a Flying Artie half-brother to Bigboyroy at next year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, with Bigboyroy the first winner for his dam Follonica, a stakes-placed daughter of Flying Spur.
