Tommy Sheehy makes winning return to driving

54-year-old Tommy Sheehy has spent the past four years on the sidelines, but on Friday night at Northam he made his returned to the gig, and on just his second drive for the night was back in the winner’s circle on board Miss Vung Tau for trainer Ross King.

"I'm so glad to be back, and over the moon."

With her last win back in November 2022, the eight-year-old appreciated the drop back in class and after leading all the way, she was able to win comfortably in race seven on the card.

Tommy Sheehy, who has a lifetime of experience in the industry made his decision quite a few months back to make his return to race driving, and after completing his trials drives in recent weeks, he made his way back to the races.

Alta Ego was first off the rank in race four for Sheehy, but after breaking in the race, the pair finished 22.5m off the winner in 8th position.

Two-year-old On On The Back Foot brought up his second career win after taking out the opener for Michael Young and Joseph Suvaljko. After an attempt for the lead soon after release point, the youngster was left in the breeze throughout, proving too good he was able to take the win by 7.7m in 2:02:1 over the 1780m trip.

Our Lady Jen made it two in a row for Jesse Moore and Trent Wheeler, with the three-year-old claiming a comfortable win in race two. After settling in the one-out-one-back position, Wheeler made his move three wide with 650m to go, pulling away to win by 11.1m over the 2190m journey in a winning mile rate of 2:02:3.

$1.34 favourite Dazzling Jewel took out race three for local trainer Lang Inwood. Driven by Corey Peterson, the four-year-old lead all the way over the 1780m trip, brining up win number three since entering the stable just 10 starts ago.

Consistent four-year-old Gota Good Warhol went one better on his last two starts, claiming top spot in race four for Hayden Reeves and Trent Wheeler. Giving Wheeler his second of three on the night, the pair attempted to cross from barrier six and after a short battle for the lead, that's where they stayed, going on to win by 10.3m in 2:02:8 over the 2190m.

What a night for the Elliott family, with race six on the card, the Billy Two Hats pace over the 1780m, with Bells Fool taking top spot at $13 odds for Hayden Charles. The six-year-old who won just three starts earlier, coming out on top over the $21.5 favourite. Kaden Elliott finished in third place on board Northern Gaze.

Four-year-old maiden First Airborne broke through for his first win in the last at Northam, with the Peter Anderson trained runner leading all the way in his 17th career start. Driven by Trent Wheeler, the win gave the reinsman the third and final instalment of his driving treble, with the pair finding the front easily from barrier four over the 1780m journey, winning comfortably by 3.7m in a winning mile rate of 2:03:3.
