The Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor -trained galloper has drawn gate nine for his Victorian debut and is marked a $14 chance with tab.com.au.

"I would have liked to have drawn inside the first six, but we'll take what we've got,'' Bain said.

"You've probably got to have a look anyway, so he'll come out neutral and see what happens.

"Many will probably expect him to work forward and be the leader, whether or not he can get there we'll have to see,'' he said.

Bain said having Jacob Opperman, who has formed a strong association with their Gawler stable, going over knowing the horse was an asset.

"It's a good opportunity for Jacob, we've made a good affiliation the last couple of months,'' Bain said.

"He's up here a couple of days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, he's pretty committed, balancing it with Murray Bridge and Morphettville but it's going well,'' he said.

Previously been trained in New South Wales by Chris Waller and then Annabel Neasham before finding his way to South Australia, Metro Legend has proven an astute purchase having banked $145,100 from 15 starts which includes four wins and seven placings.

"He's been great for our stable,'' Bain said.

"He's been a regular Saturday runner and he never runs a bad race. He always puts himself on speed or just behind it, he's reliable and honest.

"He's given the owners a great ride and hopefully there is a bit more left. Whether or not he can win on Saturday, there is the right Melbourne race in him when he can draw near the rail and kick off the turn,'' he said.

One of SA's newest training partnerships, Bain and Taylor had their first winner in combination at Gawler last week with Belmont Avenue who heads to Bordertown on Sunday alongside stablemate Dorothy Rose.
