Morphettville Races Review on 27th April 2024

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable started the Autumn Carnival off well when the three-year-old filly Aviatress won the opening event of 1100 metre at Morphettville on Saturday.

Resuming from a spell the Jake Toeroek ridden Aviatress  raced in a forward position before going on to win.

Aviatress will now progress to the Group 2 Proud Miss Stakes which will be run over 1200 metres on May 11.

The Mark Zarah ridden Growing Empire made it two wins in succession when he won the Group 3 Breeders' Stakes of 1200 metres.

Prepared at Cranbourne by Ciaren Maher Growing Empire led all the way.

Parick Payne continued the run of Victorian raiders when his charge Bold Soul took out the Group 3 Chairman's Stakes which was run over 2000 metres.

Having Jake Noonan in the saddle Bold Soul came from a worse than midfield position with withering run late in the event.

Local patrons had something to cheer about for the second time when the Jamie Kah ridden Extremely Lucky took out the Group 3 John Hawkes Stakes of 1100 metres.

Coming out of the Morphettville stable of Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea and ridden by Jamie Kah Extremely Lucky powered home from a rearward position.

 Ballarat horseman Mitch Freedman made his trip to Adelaide worthwhile when his charge Sky Bird took out the Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes of 1200 metres.

Having he services of Beau Mertens Sky Bird came from well back to register her fourth win at start six.

Patrick Payne landed his second winner for the day when the five-year-old mare Seonee won the Group 2 Queen of the South Stakes which was run over 1600 metre.

Ridden to victory by Billy Egan Seonee was well placed.

The training combination of Mick Price and Michael Kent junior continued their good run in stakes races when the three-year-old filly Vibrant Sun won the 2000 metre Group 1 Australasian Oaks of 2000 metres.

Ridden by Mark Sarah and making it two wins in a row Vibrant Sun settled in the lead and maintained that position throughout the event.

Jockey Lachlan Neindorf became of age when he rode Climbing Sar to his first Group 1 win in the 1200 metre Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes.

Prepared by Phillip Stokes at Morphettville Climbing Star was not well served by the start but took up a position on the fence before going on to win.

Having the services of Carleen Hefel Chicago Storm led all the way to take out the 1600 metre final event.

Prepared at Murray Bridge by David Aldridge Chicago Storm, an $11,000 on-line purchase, led all the way.
