Morphettville Races Review on 15th April 2023

Through the Flemington stable of James Cummings the powerful Godolphin network drew first blood when the two-year-old colt Heuristic took out the opening race of 1100 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Ridden by Todd Pannell Heuristic was well placed in opening his winning account.

After running a creditable third in the 3300 metre Adelaide Cup Long Arm showed a liking for the Morphettville track when he took out the 2500 metre second race.

Being under the care of Peter Gelagotis at Pakenham the john Allen ridden  Long Arm came from a midfield position with a strong run over the concluding stages.

Jake Toeroek increased his lead on the metropolitan jockeys' title when Celsius start won the 1050 metre third race.

Bringing up successive wins the Phillip stokes prepared Celsius Star raced in a handy position throughout the event.

Trainer Phillip Stokes landed the second leg of a running double when Stretan Angel took out the listed Dequetteville stakes of 1050 metres.

Steered to a nice victory by Kayla Crowther Stretan Angel came from well back to beak her maiden status at start number two.

Victorian based apprentice Will Price  landed a win Prairie Flower in the 1200 metre fifth race.

Prepared at Goolwa by David Jolly Prairie Flower raced in a midfield position.

Todd Pannell landed his second winner for the day when Lounge Room Rubi took out the 1200 metre sixth race.

Being under the care for Mark and Levi Kavanagh Lounge Room Rubi came from a worse than midfield position with a strong runover the concluding stages.

Housed at the Morphettville stables Killiako gave trainer Phillip Stokes a treble f

Giving Kayla Crowther her second winner for the day Killiako came from a midfield position with a well-timed run.

The big time magic of the Maher/Eustace stable prevailed when Affair a Suivre took out the listed Port Adelaide Guineas which was run over 1800 metres.

Bringing up a double for John Allen Affaire a Suivre came from a better than midfield position to bring up successive wins.

The Maher Eustace training regime landed the second leg of a race to race double when Jennilala took out the Group 3 Auraria Stakes of 1800 metres.

Ridden by Declan Bates Jennilala came from a rear of the field with a withering run in the straight to meet with success.

Phillip Stokes wrapped up a good day when Shirshov gave him his fourth win in the 1100 metre final event.

Having the services of Gary Lo and scoring his third successive win this time in Shirhshov was well placed.
