Gawler Races Review on 8th July 2023

The first-time starter Mintulee put on a polished display in winning the opening race of 1100 metre at Gawler on Saturday.

A $35,000 purchase at last year's Adelaide Magic Millions yearling sale the apprentice Alana Livesey ridden and Ryan Balfour trained Mintulee  was in the leading division throughout the event.

Metro Legend gave his trainer Allan Bain a home track win when he took out the 1200 metre second race.

Piloted to victory by apprentice Jacob Opperman Metro Legend was well placed.

Apprentice Ben Price celebrated his 21st birthday with a win on Silent Don in the 1700 metre third race.

Coming out of the Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea stable Silent Don came from a midfield position with a strong run over the concluding stages.

The training partnership of Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea brought up a race to race double when Ballon D'Or took out the 1500 metre fourth race.

Ridden by Todd Pannell Ballon D'Or was seen running on from a midfield position late in the event.

Apprentice Alana Livesey brought up a double when she rode Campobasso to a win in the 2100 metre fifth race.

Prepared by brothers Dean and Gary Alexander at Murray Bridge Campobasso settled in a forward position before going on to take the event.

Versatile jockey Campbell Rawiller landed his second winner in a week when he guided Jack's On Ice to a win in the 1200 metre sixth race.

Prepared by Richard and Chanelle Jolly Jack's On Ice brought up his third win in a row when he came from a midfield position with a strong run late in the event.

Campbell Rawiller landed the second leg of a running double when he guided Exalted Fire to a win in the 1500 metre seventh race.

Coming off a previous race second the Michael Hickmott prepared Exalted Fire led all the way.

Cranbourne trainer Mark Webb brought up his second winner in seven days when Scripta took out the 1200 metre eighth race.

Having the services of Caitlin Jones Scripta was well placed and came with a rails run to win.

Being first up after a spell the Sophie Logan ridden Portation on the 1200 metre final event.

Prepared by Sue and Jason Jaensch Portation led all the way.
