Morphettville Race Review on 10th December 2023

The training partnership of Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans celebrated their first winner as a partnership when the two-year-old colt Wolfgang won the 1000 metre opening event at Morphettville on Saturday.

Resuming from a spell the Tourneur ridden Wolfgang led all the way at his second start.

Geelong trainer Michael Shepherdson was well pleased with the win of his charge Sportsbeat in the 1200 metre second race.

Coming off a last start second at Kyneton the Todd Pannell ridden Sportsbeat powered home from last.

 Co-trainers Gardon Richards and Damien Moyle continued their good run when Crown mint won the 1600 metre third race.

Having the services of apprentice Ben Price Crown Mint came from last to record a strong win in the wet conditions.

Dominic Tourneur brought up the second leg of a double and his seventh win on Hasta La Fiorente in the 2500 metre fourth race.

Prepared at Naracoorte by Sue Murphy Hasta La Fiorente led all the way in tough conditions.

A very excited apprentice Nichola Yuen brought up her first metropolitan win when she rode Roxy Blue to a win in the 1100 metre fifth race.

Being under the care of Shane and Cassie Oxlade at Woodchester Roxy Blue led all the way.

Murray Bridge trainer Jordan Frew maintained his good strike rate when Headphones won the 1514 metre sixth race.

Not having won beyond 1400 metre previously Headphones recorded an impressive four and a quarter length win.

Being under the care of Murray Bridge trainer Justin Pickering All Beans brought up consecutive wins in the 1100 metre seventh race.

Ridden by Maggie Collett, All Beans was impressive when he fought back over the last few metres of the event.

Apprentice Alana Livesey brought up her first listed race at win number 111 when she guided Struck By in the listed Christmas Handicap which was run over 1200 metres.

Giving trainer Travis Doudle one of his biggest thrills in racing Struck By raced one off the pace.

Outriding his claim early in the day apprentice Ben Price brought up his second winner when La Defence took out the 1200 metre final event.

Coming out of the Sellicks Hill stable of Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea La Defence came from last to bring up his third consecutive win.
