Sky-TVN Rubbish.

Having listened to both CEO's explain their positions,I can tell them that the punters are not impressed.I was at the local TAB section at the football club yesterday and when it became apparent that there was no vision of NSW and Vic. meetings the punters moved out en masse. SO,punting revenue would be down, beer sales down, and no one was happy about the situation.
The only thing that saved our day was a mate who won a $5K pokey jackpot as we left Tues night after our punters club breakup. Free beer for a couple of hours, but that won't happen every day.
Fix up this problem before the greedy buggers kill the goose that laid the golden egg.
What do others think? as yesterday almost cured me. The Pig. NOT HAPPY JAN!

I am just a long time racing enthusiast, with racings well being at heart.
I fear for NSW & Qld, signing there future to one company.
Racing Victoria at least sees the profits to be made from multiple partners.
4.6 billion in Asia Pacific, 2,000 x Aust 23 million, all in our time zone. If Racing Victoria, and other smarter states, can get a piece of that action, they (instead of Tabcorp & Tattersalls) will be rich and successful.

TVN is owned by the raceclubs to get a fair deal for Racing. SKY has been screwing Clubs/Pubs, and Racing for decades, as happens with monopolies.
Look at the bigger picture (no pun intended), give TVN a chance to secure a better deal for everyone. We don't want to lose your custom, but a bigger better Racing industry will come of this dispute, please have patience.

What is your standing at TVN, Tuttyjc? Are you one of the directors? I note you used the word "we" and presume you must be a real mover and shaker at the joint.

I am not trying to keep this thread going but I hope these clowns resolve their issues soon.
I think the only thing saving club turnover from my observation has been the holiday season.Wait till after the break. That said,Thank you TVN.During the long periods when I could not see a race I have ventured to the Pokie lounge.( Oh! No Betting odds on ).
Two good jackpots in four days.More than I won on the races in the last month, and I didn't have a bad month.
Regards and Happy New Year, The Pig.

The cracks are starting to appear,or should I say chasms. The split of the NSW and Vic arms of TVN does not bode well for the industry.

Even the audio broadcasts of races unable to be shown in Qld clubs is costing the industry money as audio callers have forgotten that punters need to know how many horses still have to be loaded. Most of the time the race has gone 50 to 100 metres before the call starts so the number of punters missing their bets is astronomical. I would like to see turnover figures.

Gee I may even go back to the casino with a few mates and play blackjack or poker again.
The Pig.

Pig,

TAB punters are treated like dirt as usual.

So, you vote with your feet.

As Tic says, why take unders anyway. Being a TAB punter you pay a huge premium for the convenience of being able to watch a race and place a bet at short notice.

I would love to be in a meeting and hear what they call TAB punters.

Anyone not taking top fluctuation needs to seek counselling urgently.

So the key is to bet with everybody else and just use the TAB if you need to, to watch the race.

Gee I love racing.

Regards

Timesman

Doesn't really worry me. Mainly bet on Syd and Bris. Have had TVN at home for years (was $1 per month ). Got my computer in front of the TV , get top divs from the Corporates, all info at my fingertips (eg double ,quaddie and exotic approx divs + Jackpot info ), dont have to take unders from the Tab, can put my bets on in a microsecond without lining up, and dont have to put up with you feral drunks yelling out at the pub all the time. Heaven really.

tic, I wouldn't put it quite as harshly as you but what you said is where I am at.

I agree with what Todman said in regards what tic said.

Spending my time in a pub Tab or local tab outlet is the last place I'd waste an afternoon. Especially this time of year.

I agree with what Lister said that Todman said Tic said who probably quoted what someone else said that some had said someone else said.

This issue will be fully resolved before to long when TVN fold.

I don't know what they show on Sky 2&3 as I don't pay the extra to watch them. That's my next grumble as Foxtel is now offering new patrons a much better deal than I have.
I am currently at home looking to have a punt but will NOT watch TVN coverage as my own personal protest.
I may even go the way of a couple of mates who have forsaken horse races for punting on all up sports betting. And they are doing very well I might add.
What a bunch of clowns. After listening to the CEO of TVN I immediately thought of Alan Joyce and Sol Trujillo' and guess what they have done to the companies they ran. I guess we will have to vote with our feet. Racing and it's people deserve BETTER.

Regards, The Pig.

Spot on, pigracer.

What a greedy bunch of egotistical clowns they are. They've both treated the general public, those who punt regularly, those who do it over a beer on a Saturday and those who just like watching the races with mates who punt.

And I find it highly unlikely that its a coincidence that TVN was magically made part of the standard Foxtel package as of November 3 this year. Particularly when you see that Sky One has always been part of the standard package and TVN used to be part of the sports package that incurred an additional monthly fee.

None of these clowns have a single care about racing in this country.

Very well said pigracer.

So what does Sky now show on Sky Racing World, I was never desperate enough to fork out the extra money to receive the additional Sky channels
