Fantasy EPL - March Update

TRADITIONAL PREMIERSHIP AND MANAGER OF THE MONTH

Absolute Spurfection all right! They have taken the lead for the Traditional Premiership with just 7 rounds to go. Bender Rodriguez slips back into 2nd for the first time since October while Devilish Intent is the only other team within 100 of the leader!

Another stellar month wasn't enough to secure Bluboy the Manager of the Year title, as Camel rained on his parade clinching a well deserved MOM for March with 290pts. Bluboy was 16pts adrift, and just 1pt ahead of Spinning Knight, who stayed in the race for overall honours. There is only one monthly award left but it is worth double points!

Well done to Camel and Bluboy!

LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP

Only two rounds to go - the Top 3 are guaranteed but there's still some jockeying for the bottom spots (gee Camel desperately unlucky not to salvage anything from his last match v Bender - a single gamepoint so costly)

Congrats Dartagnan, good luck to both in the final. Cheers Bodsy, the fans will be calling for my head after making sweeping bad decisions with all the Chips, the Wildcard and most of my trades over the last two months. Live and learn. Thoroughly enjoyed the comp and look forward to next season.

LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP FINAL

THE JUNKIES v WHO ATE ALL DEPAY’S

The Junkies (2nd) and Who Ate All Depay’s (3rd) do battle for the League Premiership this Sunday night. The Junkies are clearly having their best Fantasy EPL season reaching their first League Premiership Final with a record of 14-12-7 (f&a: 60-50) while Who Ate All Depay’s are into their 3rd League Premiership Final with a 12-15-6 record (f&a 63-57). So close were these teams this season, that only 2 gamepoints separated them (based on my dodgy maths, but a cool stat nonetheless!)

How much will experience count now? Dart is contesting his second final of the season having already claimed the KO Cup in that epic thriller a month ago, and is looking to add a 3rd League trophy to an ominous collection of 14 career titles! This is Torp’s first final appearance as he looks to add a first trophy to the cabinet.

Interestingly, The Junkies beat their GF opponent in the first week of finals, their first victory over them this season, and they’ve continued to grind their way to the final on the back of two penalty shoot-outs. On the other hand, Who Ate All Depay’s overcame an inconspicuous start to their finals campaign by applying the blowtorch to the minor premiers last week to well and truly earn their spot. What a final we have!

Career League Finals Record
The Junkies: 7 Comps, 2-time semi finalist
Who Ate All Depay’s: 6 Comps, 2-time Champion, 3-time preliminary finalist

Head2Head Record
Rd8: Who Ate All Depay’s d The Junkies 4-3
Rd19: Who Ate All Depay’s d The Junkies 3-2
Rd30: The Junkies dr Who Ate All Depay’s 2-2
QF: The Junkies d Who Ate All Depay’s 1-1 (5-3)

Road to the Final
The Junkies
QF: d Who Ate All Depay’s 1-1 (5-3)
SF: d Bender Rodriguez 1-1 (4-3)

Who Ate All Depay’s
QF: l The Junkies 1-1 (3-5)
SF: d Absolute Spurfection 1-0
PF: d Bender Rodriguez 5-2

In what is the quickest and toughest gameweek of the season, I wish both managers the best of luck, and may the best team win!

LEAGUE FINALS - WEEK 3 RESULTS

Preliminary Final
Who Ate All Depay's d Bender Rodriguez 5-2

In the immortal words of the 12th Man's Tony Greig... "well, that f***ed his average". Bender Rodriguez, boasting a 3-0 record over his prelim final opponent, has been utterly dismantled by Who Ate All Depay's, 5-2!

Commiserations Ramses, but what a stellar debut season - League Prelim Finalist, KO Cup semi-finalist and top 3 in the Traditional Premiership... fairly handy stuff!

That also means that Dartagnan is into another title deciding game, a 3rd League Premiership Final, and a game that he is yet to lose! Talk about timing and how everything still turns to gold! Congrats Dart and now may the best manager win...

LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP GRAND FINAL - Gameweek 38 (15 May 2016)

The Junkies

v

Who Ate All Depay's

Thanks for the update Bodsy. Been a tough month for my team, but hoping to turn it around this week. Love this comp, and agree with the others, you do a great job and it's greatly appreciated.

cheers Ramses, stoked your enjoying it

LEAGUE FINALS - WEEK 2 RESULTS

Major Semi Final
The Junkies d Bender Rodriguez 1-1 (4-3)

Minor Semi Final
Who Ate All Depay's d Absolute Spurfection 1-0

Gee really tough work at the back end of this season, the lure of double gameweeks influenced wildcard and chip activation but getting players on the pitch has proven a stumbling block. This was evident in the Minor Semi as Absolute Spurfection lost 3 players despite using their wildcard last week while Who Ate All Depays kept their wildcard for this game - the instinct of Dartagnan is rarely off kilter! Well done Dart, you live to fight another day.. and commiserations to Bluboy but other titles await you!

In the Major Semi, both teams managed without Aguero with Payet proving a reliable vice for The Junkies. That was enough to get them over the line and through to their first League Final!!! Congrats Torp, enjoy the week off and get ready for the toughest gameweek of them all. Ramses, your 2nd chance awaits this week.

LEAGUE FINALS - WEEK 3 DRAW (Gameweek 37 - 07 May 2016)

Preliminary Final
Bender Rodriguez v Who Ate All Depay's

Bender Rodriguez has a perfect record against their opponent here, accumulating a 7-3 f&a in 3 victories... but the double League Champions will be looking to make their first GF in 3 seasons. It bodes for a highly tactical match in another dgw.

good luck lads!

Thanks for the kind words SK and Torp, a nice tribute for the comp!

Cheers for the update Bodsy

Thanks for the update Bodsy and good luck to those still in it

Well done to Bluboy too good.

Bodsy,

I drew the short straw when I need the Long straw..

Thank you for your committed effort to this wonderful comp, apart from the form guides that I still use this is the only reason I visit here still.

It remains a thoroughly enjoyable comp.

Alas, I will be Ol' Mother Hubbard again this year.

Hope everyone is well...

Once again many thanks for your excellent administration of this great comp.

Good luck to those still vying for the title.

Cheers
SK

Cheers bodsy you are an absolute stalwart of the forum and it's always a pleasure to be involved in this comp which adds to the spice of the EPL season.
Thanks to all the usual suspects for participating as well..can't wait for next year!

Thanks for the update Bodsy

LEAGUE FINALS - WEEK 1 RESULTS

Qualification Final
The Junkies d Who Ate All Depay's 1-1 (5-3)

Elimination Final
Absolute Spurfection d Devilish Intent 1-1 (5-1)

A tricky first week of finals with just 7 matches played and a fair bit of juggling after last round's bumper dgw. Well done if you got XI on the park... that's exactly what Absolute Spurfection did with their wildcard, progressing to another elimination final at the expense of Devilish Intent, who would probably not be amused with their latest acquisition - Pelle failing to make the field against Villa after scoring 4 in his last 5 games! Bad luck SK, great season and still a chance for MOY honours.

The Junkies went into their qualification final slightly undermanned but had enough contributors across the park to edge out Who Ate All Depay's, and set up a cracking major semi with Bender Rodriguez - winner going straight to the GF!

----------------------------------------------

LEAGUE FINALS - WEEK 2 DRAW (Gameweek 36 - 30 Apr 2016)

Major Semi Final
Bender Rodriguez v The Junkies

Minor Semi Final
Who Ate All Depay's v Absolute Spurfection

The Junkies haven't tasted defeat against Bender, winning twice this season while Who Ate All Depay's have a slight edge over Spurfection with a 1-2-0 record.

The stakes are high and the games will be fierce.

Good luck lads!

don't forget, finals commence this weekend.. good luck!

Thanks for the update Bodsy

LEAGUE PREMIERSHIP LADDER - FINAL

11 Dukes of Hazard Dagz 28
12 Boro to be Back Bettowin 28

What a nailbiting finish to the League regular season! Devilish Intent did all they could to escape the 1st round elimination match with a win but should be buoyed that their win was against their coming finals opponent, Absolute Spurfection. Who Ate All Depays and The Junkies enjoyed 3-2 wins as they prepare to face off with the winner to take on Bender Rodriguez for a spot in the GF.

Camel's Menagerie wins the hard luck story of the year - enduring an away loss for the 2nd time in their last 3 matches, with a single gamepoint either way costing them victory in both games... luck of the h&a draw!

Rd31: Bender Rodriguez (79) 4 d Camels Menagerie (85) 3
Rd33: Typhoon Tyson (65) 3 d Camels Menagerie (70) 2

Maybe Betto can whip you up a nice cake with his new spoon, Camel!

LEAGUE FINALS WEEK 1 - Gameweek 35 (23 Apr 2016)

Qualification Final
The Junkies v Who Ate All Depay's

Elimination Final
Devilish Intent v Absolute Spurfection

Good luck Finalists!!

Cheers Bodsy

Thanks for the update Bodsy. Good luck to those still in the chase for the finals.

One round to go and Camel has knocked off another top 5 team to give himself every chance of finals action - the Menagerie (44pts) are just 1 point outside the 5 but I dare say only a win will do, but a win will guarantee their spot in the 5 with Absolute Spurfection (4th - 45pts) playing Devilish Intent (5th - 45pts). Everyone else is gawn!

At the pointy end, Bender Rodriguez has claimed the Minor Premiership, meaning they get the 1st week bye and 2nd chance in finals. Well done Ramses, great achievement in your debut R&S season - you are now pretty much 2 wins from claiming the League Premiership!

good luck to those remaining in the hunt.

Thanks Bodsy. Coming home with a wet sail at the end of a disappointing season. Too little too late though sadly. Let's see if we can get another win this weekend though.

Thanks for the update Bodsy
