Canberra Today

Really like Agent today in Race 4.
Thought his first up run was sensational off the back of a pretty ordinary JMac ride, second up had no option but to drift back back and further back. Pace here should be a cracker and he should get over them late.

Burley Griffin Sprint

Thought Jacinta was the run of the race last start.Should have won bar for being held up at a crucial time.
Had a freshen, won at the track and over the distance.
Load up.

Betcher- Cranbourne Trials

justlikejoe

Really like this one from the trials at Cranbourne, ran within 100th of a second of Lankan Rupee's time. Ran faster time than Earthquake and trialled better than Jabali. Honestly thought we'd never see him in Aus. I'm declaring him a cert in the Talindert.Take the $3.60.

Son Senora trialled brilliantly on the same day and strolled in wednesday, cant believe they bet $2.20 about it.She ran fastest time of the day at the trials, IMHO Betcher trialled better.

Loved this blokes run last start, toughed it right out and just got collared late.
Reckon he's a special today in Race 8 at Hobart.

The Rarest of the Rare

justlikejoe

Hi guys,

Can I start by saying, this is not a crow.
Met a few mates for lunch yesterday for a counter meal and a couple of bets as a prelim to venturing on to a mutual mate of ours 50 th birthday celebrations. After a slow start the day turned out to be a freakish one on the punt.
I’d had a brief look at the form Friday night, played golf Saturday morning and headed to the pub with no real intent. Somehow the planets aligned and this was the result. (Cant remember exact order, but here goes)
Coram unpl
Hi Son $6.50
Agent unpl
The White Hope 2nd
Five All $6.00
Belfast Boy $9.00
Red Excitement $6.50
Pin unpl
Dormello $5.60
November Grey $3.60
Shamal Wind $13
Junoob $2.60

12 bets 8 winners

It was astonishing. I really had my tail up by Shamal Wind and a few of the lads followed me in. We nearly tore the joint down when she burst through. Surely im not alone here and most of us have had that rare day where no wrong can be done. Trot out your stories guys, id love to read about them.

Pre Race Analysis

justlikejoe

G'day Forumites,
I'm interested to know, what if any, are the essentials a runner must have/ have not to be considered a betting proposition. I have my own thoughts but wonder how they differ if at all to others thoughts.
Is it one factor, five, ten that a runner must meet before you will put your hard earned on?
An example, Dex, top 5 jocks or no bet.
I've started to take a more risk based analysis to my selections in recent times and wonder does anyone else look at risk, negatives and opportunities when looking at a runner?
Thanks in advance
Joe.

Colourful Race Call

Heard one at Alice Springs today, leader hung on the home corner, caller described it 'as being greener than a cannabis crop'

G'day all,

Spending the weekend in Adelaide next weekend.
Any recommendations, hotels ( was thinking Sebel Playford),restaurants???

Oii Dex, I'm looking at ewe.

Thx in advance Joe.
Gday all,

the debacle continues. The sectional times provided out of Rosehill last Saturday on the industries flagship racing site are a complete disgrace.

For those interested have a look at the final 400m times posted for both Mr Edison (26.65 s) and Kuhreihen (27.06s) in the second race.
Admittedly Frozen Rope won well he got home in 22.6 sec according to the same site. 27.5 LENGTHS better than Kuhreihen!!!!!

Not on the replay i watched.

I appreciate the service is free, and you only get what you pay for, BUT, if the service is going to be blatantly wrong (to the tune of 20 odd lengths), why even provide it?

If these figures are blatantly wrong, are the others provided in the race close to accurate? I doubt it.

The formatting is horrendous. The times do not reflect the section titled.

Perusing the net, one comes across punters howling for blood at the poor quality and inaccurate information being provided by the race clubs re sectional times. As always, it falls on deaf ears.

I heard Vince Accardi say the estimated cost of providing accurate timing in Vic is somewhere in the vicinity of 50 million bills, that is a lot of Buckshish. It'll never happen, but SOMETHING has to be done about the 'service' we are currently being givin.

I for one could live with a half length here or a half length there if it is the lack of technology causing the error, however, i do not believe the lack of technology is to blame.

Clearly the race clubs have engaged some nuffy, with no mathematical skill, no concept of racing or concept of the service he/she is being asked to provide. The end result being, pages of useless information.

It is a disgrace.
