British Open Golf

Redback

The sports fiesta in the UK/Europe continues with the British Open this weekend.

Don't pretend to be any expert but dutching fore players in the outright win market on Betfair just to have an interest.

Jordan Spieth @ $17 (born to play golf)
Jon Rahm @ $19 (young Seve)
Justin Rose @ $23 (rock solid, the value?)
Matt Fitzpatrick @ $120 (longshot good youngster)

Manaya spring plans

Redback

Looks like one of the better finds of the Autumn/Winter carnival. Any word on where she's heading in the spring? Sydney Princess series. Wouldn't mind getting on pre-post for an small interest in something, as much for entertainment as anything. Golden Rose probably too much too soon.

Quite a speedy pedigree (http://www.pedigreequery.com/manaya2), hope she's not a shooting star and goes on with it.

Pakistan Star

Redback

This replay is doing the rounds on social media from the recent HK meet, ridiculous..

Three 8yo's walk into a bar

Redback

And run 1,2,3

Great old horses, but just that. Was the Cox Plate winner here? Does tend to make you look elsewhere. Looks to be setting up for an upcoming 3yo, 4yo or overseas raider. Watching the Turbull with interest (so many puns there).

Why would you

Redback

Why change riding tactics coming off a personal best performance? Seen this a few times lately. Wouldn't have saved Hartnell today, just think it's odd.

Pride Of Dubai

Redback

Nice horse this one, handles all conditions, plenty of scope for improvement. Could be a monster 3yo, look forward to seeing him over 2000m. Takes a while to wind up my only slight pick but it's understandable looking at his pedigree. Still winning group ones just on class.

Morphettville Parks

Redback

Horrible track, about time they transferred some of the Saturday Parks meetings out to Gawler, which is now a good setup. Even give each of the provincial clubs one Saturday meeting a year, they can all put on a good day. Love Morphettville, but the Parks circuit is a conveyer belt for leaders. Gets a bit mundane racing at one track every weekend.

Adelaide autumn carnival

Redback

What i'd like to see, probably over simplistic and cutting into Brisbane, but thought i'd throw it out there for discussion.

Cup stays in May, too popular with racegoers where it is, aim to target stayers on the up.

Port Adelaide Cup gets beefed up and switched to SA Derby day, premier staying handicap of the carnival. Historic race so deservedly so.

WFA SA St Leger day (traditionally 2800m?) added to the end of the carnival. I'm biased, love the BMW as a race and would like to see more WFA races for the stayers. Attracts colts and fillies from the local classic races, better of the Port Cup runners, and quality WFA stayers who are weighted out of the Sydney and Brisbane Cups. Make it at least group 2 to make it worthwhile.

Problem solved, simple :) Just need someone to invest $500k a year in it, Nathan Tinkler or Lloyd Williams, for the good of quality stayers in this country?!

Unsung Heroine

Redback

Imported mare with David Hayes. Gallops at Morphettville between race 2 and 3 tomorrow.

Just looked up the form, second in the English St Leger to the subsequent Breeders Cup Turf winner. Also throw in a win over older mares at G3 level at just her second start.

Realize it's very early for spring betting. Just a comment in passing, really nice type for the cups?

SA Derby

Redback

Any idea on either Littorio or El Daana lining up? Looks paper thin otherwise.

Assuming Largo Lad won't jump from 1600.

Highly doubt Littorio - it would be much shorter in the market.

They already have the favourite, so El Daana off to Sydney probably?

Zagreb and Arazamataz could only beat what was there, but the time was ordinary compared to the Oaks. They really didn't get home much quicker than the fillies.

Lastly, can Arazamataz turn the tables on Zagreb? Value at $14? Settled better last time. Theoretically Zagreb should be better for the run after a break. Hayes typically produces them very forward though, much upside there?

A wet track could throw it back to Zagreb being a Zabeel. We have rain today, but it never rains for more than two days here - dead mayybbe slow track, way to tempt fate.

Honestly don't know the Melbourne form much. From past experience, anything with a bit of form against older horses can run a race in this, at good odds.

Leaning to something on Arazamataz.

Thoughts?
