A pity a few more seasoned coaches can't take the hint
Do yourself a favour and get yourself to Murray Downs. 20 of us went last weekend and besides too much golf, drinking, eating and punting we didn,t have to do a thing. Fabulous set up with spas, bars and a few pars. And if you inbox the Murray Downs on this site and let you know your on your way he will seek you out at sometime. And the Crown Lagers we won were well appreciated on the Calder Hwy as we headed down south. Thanks Murray and hope we didn,t wreck the place too much.
I see that John Hopoate is fighting on the undercard of the Green/Mundine fight.
It is getting more like WWF every day. The big challenge for his oponent will be what side of his trunks does he wear the protector.
Still it should be an interesting night down at the pub watching these circuses.

Nason, what now?

Who ever seriously beleives Eddy Everywhere is the biggest conflict of interest in sport has no idea. First we have the AFL Chairman also being the boss of the company with catering rights to football. The chairman of the Grand Prix (amongst other things) gives contracts to his son to build temporary fencing around a public park. The CEO of a stadium becomes chairman of a football club then decides to try to move their playing rights to that stadium. Now one of the main players in the TVN/Sky channel fiasco up and joins the opposition. Tabcorp had better show some transparency in this one or the sports and racing ministers should resign.
Fined his beer money for spitting yet get this, fined 5K for wearing the wrong socks. Only in America.

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was fined $17,000 Monday by the NFL for spitting in the face of Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman.

Taylor was ejected and penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for spitting at Pittman in the third quarter of Saturday's playoff game. The offense was considered so egregious that Pittman wasn't penalized for slapping Taylor in the helmet in retaliation.

The amount of the fine is the playoff bonus each Redskins player received for the first-round game, which the Redskins won 17-10.

Taylor escaped suspension for his action, keeping him on the active roster for this week's game at Seattle.

"He's just a passionate player out there," right tackle Chris Samuels said. "This upcoming game he'll be able to redeem himself. I don't think he'll make that mistake again."

The spitting incident is the latest in a series for Sean Taylor. Taylor did not comment after the game, and Monday was a day off for players. He has told teammates and coaches that he did not spit at Pittman, and coach Joe Gibbs said a review of the video was inconclusive.

"If that took place, we understand the penalties," Gibbs said. "We understand somebody being taken out of the game. Sean is so valuable to us. I had a long talk with him afterward, and he understands that. He's all football. He wants to play. He's one of our leaders. He's had an outstanding year. He's very valuable to us. We can't afford to lose somebody like that."

Taylor has been fined several times in his two-year career for a bevy of infractions, including $25,000 for skipping the league's mandatory rookie symposium. He has several in-season fines for illegal hits and uniform violations, including $5,000 for wearing striped socks that resembled a barber pole in this year's home game against Philadelphia.

He was investigated by the league last season for allegedly spitting at Cincinnati receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, but no fine was levied because there was no video evidence.

Taylor also had a drunken driving charge last season that was later dismissed. He is scheduled to go on trial next week in Miami on a felony charge of aggravated assault stemming from a June 1 confrontation near his home, although he is expected to request a postponement because of the Redskins' playoff run.

Taylor has been praised by coaches and teammates for taking a more professional approach this season. He's also solidified his role as the defense's best young player and hardest hitter. He has returned a fumble for a touchdown in two straight games.

"He's turned his life around," defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin said. "He's been a more positive guy. He's been a great role model on the field."

Well done Appleby

Once again Australian golf, and sport, is in the mire after Appleby won the Mercedes championship in a playoff against Singh. sunk a one foot putt for birdie after hitting out of a bunker. That is pressure.

Bogut number 1- How much

Ron Rat

Surely if he lives up to the hype and plays 15 years at a top level potentially he could be the highest ever paid sportsperson in Australian history. Greg Norman has made squillions but most of that was made off the course and with his uncanny business acumen.
Wouldn,t think he would be interested in minor events like the Commonwealth games.

Is Eade serious?

Ron Rat

Does anybody really think that Monday night would be a success.
Families would struggle to get kids up for school tuesday morning.
After watching footy all weekend good luck convincing everyone else that another game of footy to watch is a good idea.
The draw would become even more fraught with short backups.
Part time staff would become harder to get for gatekeepers, beverage dispensers etc who are largely doing it for a second job.
Interstate clubs travelling would not only hate it but fans who might want to travel would baulk at it because they would need to take more time off work.
It works for one day cricket because the weather is warmer, the base to draw from is larger (ie they are not club based but national) and they are generally played during school holidays.
