Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Sandown, Doomben, Balaklava, Ascot and Launceston.

WARWICK FARM: RACE 4 @ 3:30 PM

ETNA ROSSO (1) closed off strongly over the concluding last start at Randwick, only beaten 1.8L in a blanket finish. The rise in trip should suit him perfectly third up and the booking of McDonald is a big push for his chances. Expect him to take some stopping. FAY'S ANGELS (8) made light work of her rivals last start when taking out the Highway in a very soft fashion. Bit tougher this time but strips fitter third up and gets in well at the weights again with the 3kg claimer sticking. Don't take lightly. FLEET COMMANDER (4) is ticking along nicely this time in, with four consecutive top-two finishes, including a win. Will be giving himself every chance up on the speed and should have a kick left in the locker. PIRAEUS (5) is nearing a win, denied narrowly in his last three. Cherry-ripe now and should be in this for a long way. NOTABADBUY (2) knocked off Piraeus last start at Canberra. Have to include.
SELECTIONS: Backing Etna Rosso to win. Saving on Fay's Angels.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 2 @ 3:40 PM

QUICKSTER (14) won't get many better chances to break her maiden. She charged home on resumption at Sandown-Lakeside when the winner gave them the slip on the turn, putting a huge gap back to third in the process. Second up last time in she was excellent at G2 level. Up slightly in trip and all things equal she should win. HENRY'S BLADE (6) ran a solid race on debut at Moonee Valley over 1200m, sticking on well for fourth, beaten 1 length by Quebeck. Open to improvement and can figure. BRANDNU DEAL (3) ran well on debut at Geelong before a spell and that form should hold up. THE SHAPER (9) resumes from a long spell having run well on debut at Bendigo. Watch the market.
SELECTIONS: Quickster to win.

DOOMBEN: RACE 6 @ 3:23 PM

BUBBA'S BAY (2) is close to a win after a string of minor placings, switching from Sydney for a last-start third over this distance at Eagle Farm. Won the only time she attempted this track and trip. Beautifully placed and can strike today. EN POINTE (6) did a great job of scoring by a head over today's course and distance last start when she led from wider and dug deep. That took her strike rate at the track and trip to 50 percent. Likely to be there at the finish again. GODFATHER (4) couldn't get into the action when resuming at Randwick-Kensington but will be fitter and finds a more suitable race. IRING (5) must be respected after placing from this same draw last start at Sunshine Coast. IT'S GERRY (8) progressed off a fresh placing to score by 1.3 lengths last time over 1100m at Ipswich. Drawn for a soft run so could take the next step.
SELECTIONS: Bubba's Bay is well placed and ready to win.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 1 @ 1:40 PM

EIGHT ON THE DOT (1) was an easy Oakbank winner this trip/grade and was then outgraded in the G3 Lord Reims Stakes over 2600m. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and can bounce back. CHOSEN MISS (5) raced favourite in a CL1 at Strathalbyn but was beaten 2.2L by Hostess Susie. Gets a weight swing on that galloper and with Crowther sticking is worth another chance. HOSTESS SUSIE (3) turned the form around in that contest and will get every chance to repeat the dose. PLAISIR (2) would have claims at best but has been struggling.
SELECTIONS: Backing Eight On The Dot.

ASCOT: RACE 2 @ 2:19 PM

SHOOTING SPIRIT (5) wasn't beaten far on resumption in the Magic Millions 3YO and we saw that form stand up on Saturday at Ascot. Much easier race this time and have to respect the stable's opinion to throw him in the big races so early. Beautifully placed here and should be returning to the winner's stall. CHOIXWAY (1) comes through a race on the same day where he faded after setting the tempo first-up. This looks an easier race and he has the pace to overcome the wide alley. Strips fitter now and a better run is anticipated. DIABLO LAD (2) continues to improve with every run and was only narrowly beaten over this track and trip 14 days ago. Should be right up on the pace once again and if there's still more improvement to come, he'll be in this race for a very long way. GOLD VANCOUVER (7) steps out to 1200m for the first time but laid a good foundation first-up. Can launch now. PLATINUM SHOT (4) has to be included on his recent efforts.
SELECTIONS: Shooting Spirit is the one to beat.

LAUNCESTON: RACE 7 @ 9:00 PM

NICCO THE GREEK (2) is well placed off the 2.5L defeat in the Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes over this distance. Missed a lip in a 76 prior, building on the win this grade. In good hands and will take plenty of beating. OLE OLA (3) was quickly back on track narrowly beaten here this grade/distance. Races forward and she will be in the finish again. GALLANT WARRIORS (5) settled back and belted home to win the CL2 by a space. Hits this at peak and the 1400m shouldn't prove a bother this time around. PRINCESS MATOAKA (6) didn't miss the hat-trick by far in the Ole Ola race but needs to find more to threaten.
SELECTIONS: Backing Nicco The Greek to win.
