Broodmare prospectors who think Coolangatta is a chance at Royal Ascot will be excited by the latest addition to the National Broodmare Sale with the dam of the two-time Group 1 winner and Magic Millions heroine to be offered as a supplementary lot on the Gold Coast this month.
Piping Hot, a daughter of More Than Ready, will be offered in-foal to I Am Invincible as Lot 676 on Day 1 of the sale via Milburn Creek, who is selling on behalf of Highclere Stud Australia.
A half-sister to Blue Diamond winner Reaan (Hussonet), Piping Hot's first foal Snitzonfire won three races before second foal Coolangatta announced herself one of the stars of her generation.
After winning the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January last year, Coolangatta – a daughter of Written Tycoon – finished third in the Golden Slipper before winning two 1000m Group 1s as a three-year-old.
After winning the Moir Stakes at The Valley last spring, she resumed with a win in the Black Caviar Lightning at Flemington in February.
Coolangatta is now favourite to win the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes (1006m) on Day 1 of the Royal Ascot meeting, which will be run around four week after the National Broodmare Sale.
"It's an absolute honour to be entrusted with the sale of Piping Hot on behalf of Highclere Stud Australia," Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.
"Piping Hot, in my opinion, would be by far the highest credentialed broodmare to be offered at auction in Australia in a very long time.
"She has it all; a daughter of More Than Ready, the dam of superstar filly Coolangatta, in foal to our leading sire and sales ring record-breaker I Am Invincible, and physically all you would look for in a broodmare. What a package.
"She would be the jewel in the crown for any breeder. Whether they breed to race or breed to sell at the top end of the yearling market, Piping Hot is as a rare international commodity - she has all of her best years ahead of her and has already achieved so much."
The 2023 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale commences on May 23.
